Description
 
The AX84 P1-extreme is a great beginning amp kit, using a single 12ax7 preamp tube and a single octal output tube. Like a P1 with more volume. Based on the P1-extreme schematic at AX84, this kit includes everything you need to build the amp except wire, solder, speaker, guitar and hard work.

What does a kit include? 110v transformers (see option for world-ready power), unpunched aluminum chassis, resistors, caps, switches, sockets, tubes, knobs, pots, ac inlet and cable, fuse holder and fuse, lamp assembly and lamp, eyelet board (unless otherwise noted), terminal strips (as needed), screws, washers, bolts.  

The default chassis already had the rectangular IEC jack hole cut, so you only need round drill bits for everything else.

All the available documentation for the building of these kits (including schematics, layouts, building guides, etc...) are available at AX84.com on the respective project page and are not included with the kits. The builder is encouraged to study those materials and determine if they can handle the effort before ordering. Please contact us before ordering with your questions. We're here to help you as much as we can, but we can't provide step-by-step build assistance.

I built my P1X about a year ago, and still love it.  I was impressed with the quality of parts in the kit, and the prompt service.  I have some tweaks I'd like to do, but it sounds great just like it is.  I'd definitely recommend this kit to others who know how to solder and follow a schematic!

I purchased this kit in early 2010 and it went together as promised.  The drill plan and layout guide were spot on.  I pulled this thing out today and can't believe how good it sounds...  I'm looking to build a bigger wattage version and came back here and found that I could write a review.  As a note.  These kits are for people who have at least a little soldering skill and basic electrical.  The forum site loves to help beginners (like me) and this kit makes you feel like a winner.

I followed the layout and drilled my own chassis. Very easy build. Pre drilled chassis would have been a faster and easier choice. Probably will choose that on my next build. Everything is of good quality and the sound of this amp is wonderful. Very good sounding blues/rock crunch type amp. Reacts well to boost and distortion pedals. Chris was very helpful with ordering and gives good service. I will do business with Doberman again!

This is an excellent kit, everything is top notch. Get the prepunched chassis if you don't have a good selection of drill bits. I used the upgraded output transformer and it sounds great. Took it to the local music store and the owner put it side by side and compared it to the Tiny Terror, although it has less gain than the tiny terror, it has much better all around tone and was dead quiet at idle, had no harsh distortion "noise" and, was very pick freindly. I highly recommend this kit over any that are available, the forum is great, all parts are high quality, it's very modifiable and, the price can't be beat. I also recieved it 4 days after ordering, excellent service , see if any other kit maker does that.
